Seems like only yesterday
She tucked me into bed
Brushed my hair kissed my cheek
Not one more word was said

Morning came the day was bright
Mama looked at me
Told me I was beautiful
She said this constantly

Blushing as I said to her
Oh Mom please not today
But in my heart I felt a thrill
Each time I heard her say

To me you are the beauty
That fills up all the skies
When I see a rainbow
I see you in my eyes

Left the house in such a rush
I kissed her quickly then
Grabbed my books got my lunch
Who knew this time would end

Happily went off to school
To start a brand new day
Never thought within my heart
My Mom would go away

News was flashing all around
Great fire in the sky
My heart was still I felt a chill
I broke down and I cried

My Dad he came to pick me up
His eyes all filled with tears
Held me tight all through the night
But could not quell my fears

Knelt down where my Mommy stood
Just the other night
Saw her standing next to me
So radiant and bright

Heard the words she had said
So clear they came to me
Tears were falling down my face
Repeated constantly

I am never far away
You're Mommy's at your side
Watching you with happiness
As years will now go by

Just remember what I said
The day I had to leave
Keep these words within your heart
Honey please don't grieve

To me you are the beauty
That fills up all the skies
When I see a rainbow
I see you in my eyes

I looked up on this perfect day
Sky was bright and blue
Rainbow shining down on me
Mother's love shines through.
